England Athletics will look to select individuals for appropriate international competition given their current performance level.
The 2016 season highlights are the Olympic Games from 5th to 21st August in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil; and the World Team Championships on 7th & 8th May. In addition there are full Team opportunities for age group athletes at the European Youth Championships from 19th to 24th July in Tiblisi, Georgia; and the IAAF World Junior Championships also from 19th-24th July.
Priority for selection by the Selection Committee for England Athletics Teams will be given to athletes competing in England Athletics Championships. Events are listed below.
England Athletics will stage its first 10k Race Walk Championships at Coventry on 6th March to recognise its top race walkers. The 10km Championship will provide a level of competition appropriate for qualifying for international teams as England look to develop athletes towards the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
