A new Indian record of 8.20m was set by Sreeshankar Murali in the long jump at his country’s national championships. Murali had been set for the Gold Coast earlier this year, but had to pull out at the last minute due to appendix surgery. He does however go 15th on the Commonwealth all-time list, as The Times of India reports.

Another athlete who unfortunately missed out on competing in Australia in April was Dewi Griffiths. The Welshman is looking forward to taking part in this weekend’s Commonwealth Half Marathon Championships on home soil in Cardiff this weekend, proclaiming “this is my Commonwealth Games” on the event’s Twitter feed as you can watch below.

Meanwhile, Griffiths, along with Melissa Courtney, Bethan Davies and Ieuan Thomas were among the top names to scoop awards at the Welsh Athletics’ annual awards ceremony (via Dai Sport).

There were victories for Highgate Harrier Chris Rainsford and Sale Harrier Katherine Wood at the England Half Marathon Championships in Nottingham over the weekend. News update from England Athletics.

Meanwhile, the Ealing Half Marathon saw Rachel Thomas and Jonathan Poole clinch wins in an event featuring Olympian and Mara Yamauchi, who is now 45. Read Athletics Weekly’s round-up.

We on have been asking you to pick your favourite moment on our channel in 2018. There have been a few fireworks this year, including two world age bests for 15-year-olds, the fastest ever time in a women’s only British Milers’ Club race, and a sensational comeback in the British Universities (BUCS) 4x400m relay final. Watch them back here and you can vote on Twitter or Instagram (or both!).

Finally, New York-based indoor track The Armory has released a video montage showing the finer details of relaying a brand new Mondo track surface as the venue prepares for the upcoming season. The arena has a rich history, having been built in 1909 to house units of the state’s volunteer militia and was repurposed in the 1980s as a homeless shelter.
