Adidas Adizero MD 2

2015 Spikes (Middle Distance) from Adidas

Manufacturer's Description

If you're a middle distance runner looking for performance spikes, the track will be yours with the ADIDAS ADIZERO MD 2.

As worn by David Rudisha when he broke the 800m world record, this dynamic middle distance spike features a breathable AIRMESH upper, EVA insole cushioning and a durable 6-pin PEBAX spike plate for optimal energy return and grip.

The shoe's interior walls are lined with SYNTHETIC MICROFIBRES to encase the foot in a soft, glove-like fit, while perforated inlays and COOLEVER mesh help regulate the wearer's temperature and moisture output.

The design of the ADIZERO MD also allows air to circulate freely through the full length of the upper, which promotes a cooler, drier, running experience. Meanwhile, strategically placed SPRINTWEB overlays deliver superb stability when you're racing and excellent support in high-speed moves - perfect for that final burst of acceleration.

A small cushioning pad at the heel also helps protect the foot by attenuating the impact force of repetitive heel-strikes. Moreover, SPRINTFRAME construction works in unison with the PEBAX sole plate to improve torsional stability and encourage power transfer through the whole of the foot.

Non-slip lining also eliminates foot slide during bursts of high-intensity acceleration, meaning you can forget about chaffing and concentrate on breaking away from the chasing pack.

Features:

  • Outsole PEBAX plate for lightweight performance and durability
  • Moulded EVA midsole for lightweight performance.
  • Inlay EVA insole for comfort
  • Outsole Replacement spike
  • Inlay: Perforated insole for breathability.
  • NON-SLIP LINING: for comfort and performance.
  • Upper: Airmesh upper for maximum ventilation.

Review

The Adidas Adizero MD2 is very similar in structure to the Adidas Adizero Prime Finesse, but with an added heel and has been designed with distances from 400m to the mile in mind.

As you'll see in the photo, this heel also carries a little extra grip - useful should you be entering the latter stages of a race or training session and be starting to fatigue as it gives you a bit extra traction when trying to continue to push forward.

The shoe itself looks great and is well built, with Adidas' sprint web technology ensuring a snug fit.

I am an athlete that constantly struggles with spikes as I have abnormally wide feet, and whilst the MD2 isn't the widest of spikes it does provide an adequate amount of support to my feet to ensure they don't roll to the side as I push off from the ground.

The spike is a little heavier than its speed loving brothers the prime accelerator and the prime finesse, but this is barely noticeable.

I write this review as a 400m runner and this spike quickly became my spike of choice for racing throughout the 2015 indoor season thanks to its light yet aggressive build and the added heel support.
